Why I liked PopSQL

It was simple, fast, and just nicer to use than other SQL tools like DBeaver. It didn’t feel overwhelming or overly corporate. It just made writing queries feel easy.

When I saw it moving to limited support, it honestly made me a little sad. Pour one out for the homie.

Why I built CreamSQL

Around the same time, I came across a Reddit thread where someone was saying PopSQL is shutting down and asking for an alternative.

So I put up a simple waitlist and people signed up. That made it feel real.

I thought it would be a fun challenge to try building something that kept that same spirit. Lightweight, approachable, but with a more modern twist and some AI features.

That’s how CreamSQL was born.
